Put God First

John 20:1 NKJV
Now the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.

Mark 16:1-2 NKJV
1. Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him.
2. Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.

Jesus died on the Day of Preparation for the Sabbath. Preparation Day is the day before the onset of Sabbath and Sabbath begins at nightfall on Friday and lasts until nightfall on Saturday. In practical terms the Sabbath starts a few minutes before sunset on Friday and runs until an hour after sunset on Saturday, so it lasts about 25 hours.

To be more specific by hours, Jesus died at 3 PM and Sabbath starts around 6 PM. Jewish are not allowed to do any work during Sabbath, so Jesus’ burial was done in hurry. His followers only had time to wrap Jesus’ body with linen and didn’t use spices or oil perfumes.

The moment I read John 20:1, the words "went to the tomb early, while it was still dark" struck me. As I'm writing this blog post, I found another Bible verse, which is Mark 16:1-2, that shown that Mary Magdalene was not alone, she was with Mary the mother of James and Salome. These two verses show that their priority is Jesus. They didn’t afraid to proclaim that they’re Jesus’ followers and what might happen if they visited Jesus’ tomb. They only cared for Jesus well-being. I see it as an act of selfless, put God as priority in their lives. And their reward was they're the firsts to know that Jesus is risen.

Now, I’m questioning myself, what can I do to put God first in my daily life? Yes, I can start my morning by praying and expressing my gratitude of every breath that God allows me to take. But, it’s not enough, because I’m only doing it for myself.

So, I figured, putting God first means before we do something, we should ask “What would Jesus do?”. Start from little things, e.g. if the chef didn’t get my food exactly the way I wanted, I should stay calm and accept the way it is. Everyone makes mistakes and if the tables are turned, I also don’t want to get scolded at. So, I must be wise and careful not to say anything hurtful. Just because I’m having a bad mood doesn’t mean everyone should be miserable too.

Later, if I encounter something more difficult to solve and clueless about the solution, I will go deeper in prayer, ask God earnestly to lead the way and teach me to see His way. By doing it constantly, I’m open to God’s teaching and always learning to see from God’s perspective. Most importantly, I let God’s will be done, not my will.

Misa Tahun Ajaran Baru

Memasuki tahun ajaran baru, sekolahku yang merupakan sekolah Katolik, mengadakan Misa Tahun Ajaran Baru. Misa hari ini dipimpin oleh Romo Thomas Ulun Ismoyo. Orangnya lucu, sangat humoris, tahu bagaimana membuat kami tertawa. Well, I think it's so true !!! Especially when we feel lazy to study and we ask our friend not to study too. Picture source : https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhW2SbHClfb_8EIn-wZPPz

You Are Precious

I want to share a Bible verse that resonated with me at that moment and it still resonates with me now. And I'd like to believe that it would resonate to you as well. Isaiah 43:4  Since you were precious in My sight,   You have been honored,   And I have loved you; I received this Bible verse during a retreat trip in 2017. It's our last day and we're having a ceremony, thanking God for what we've got during the retreat and pray for safety on our way back. During ceremony, each one of us got random Bible verse and I got this. I couldn't help but crying. At that moment, I felt I was nobody, I was nothing. Why would God say that I'm precious ? I didn't realize that God loves us all. In His eyes, we're precious, YOU are precious. God created us for a purpose, that's why we're not born in vain. I know life can get tough sometimes, or a lot of times. But we have to remember we have GOD who is bigger than all of our problems combines. All He asks us to

Fake It Till You Make It

I want to share my recent watch. Disclaimer first, I'm not reviewing from a professional perspective, but from audience point of view. If you're agree with me, then welcome to the club. If not, it's ok, as long as we can share what's on our mind freely and not hurting others. :) So, I've been watching a new Netflix series, title 'Emily in Paris'. It's typical rom-com/sit-com. Not that it's super funny, but it's a fresh series which portrays life of an American in Paris. I think we've seen enough young adult, reaching their quarter life, having the best times of their lives, feeling on top of the world, that they can achieve anything, but located in New York. This one is slightly different, it's located in Paris, a city renowned as 'city of love'. But still relatable because it's filmed based on American perspective, which is Emily, played by Lily Collins. I think it's genius. I've watched the first 2 episodes and I'
