Yuhuuu, I'm going to Australia next month. It will be a short trip. I'm
gonna spend 10 days there. But, before we're talking about the places I’ll be
visiting, let's talk about the visa first. I'm holding Indonesian passport and
I need a visa to get inside Australia. Since I am a former travel consultant, I’m
familiar with the visa application procedure. That’s why I decided to apply the
visa on my own.
So, here’s information you needed for applying Australian Tourist Visa
through VFS Global Jakarta.
1) Create an account on VFS Global website
https://online.vfsglobal.com/GlobalAppointment
2) Schedule an appointment
3) Prepare the documents
- Recent photo 4cm x 6cm
- Fill out the form (download the form here)
- Copy of passport (front page, passport pages with immigration stamps
or visa, last page)
- Copy of your identity card (ID)
- Copy of your birth certificate
- Copy of your family card
- Copy of your bank account from the past 3 months or other evidence
that you have fund to support your travelling. In my case, I also give copy of
bank deposit under my name.
- Original statement letter from your company that stated you're an
employee there, will be travelling to Australia and surely come back after the
trip ends.
On the day of appointment, bring the printed appointment paper, all
documents prepared, and your original passport since it will be needed for
checking purposes.
VFS Global is located at Kuningan City Mall. It's on 1st and 2nd floor.
For Australia, you go to 2nd floor. First, you'll pass the security guards,
they will be checking your bags and yourself, just like at the airport. Then
you walk inside and meet another security who will be asking your appointment
letter. The security will sign it and tick your name on their list. After that,
you walk a bit further and meet another security who will ask which country
you're applying for and what kind of visa you're applying, they will put it on
the machine and give you queuing number. It's not crowded at all, so I only sat
for a minute then get my name called. The staff greeted me nicely and she asked
my documents and I gave them to her. She checked the form and if you're missing
any single question blank, she will ask you to complete it right away. Also, at
first, I didn't know that I will need to bring copy of birth certificate. But
luckily, they have computer and printer there, so I can print it right away.
The fee for computer and internet access is Rp 11.000, while for printing it's
Rp 2.000 / page. So, in total I paid Rp 13.000. So, my best advice is : always
have your legal document online, so you have access to it anytime and anywhere
with internet.
Btw, fee for visa Rp 1.705.000 and must be paid by cash only.
PS : Sorry I didn't take any picture because I was in hurry and I'm
pretty sure it's not allowed to take pictures inside.
Hope this information is useful and good luck with your visa
application. :)
